Default Back where it belongs

In 1979 in Sandusky Ohio my mother and aunt bought matching Camaros. In 1982 my mother sold hers after my younger brother came along. My aunt kept hers and moved to New Jersey. For the last 20 years my aunt has been telling me that she wants me to have her car. Never thought much of that comment nor did I ever think she was serious. Had a few phone conversations and a 19 hour round trip and now the car is back in Ohio. The car isn't in Sandusky but it's close enough. It has been sitting in and out of a garage for the last 15 years. Weather has taken its toll and so has the sun. Most people would see a rusty old junker but not me. I was going through pictures at my mother's house last year and found a picture of my aunt and I sitting on the hood of this car in 1979 and I had to have it so I could bring it back to life. I am looking forward to this new project and so glad I found this forum. Its gonna make this much easier and fun.
Thanks in advance
Dave
PS. I tried to add pics of the car but it says "you may not post attachments" My garage has a picture of the car on the trailer if anyone is interested.

You can upload pics using a photobucket account. Once you have a photobucket account, get the image code and paste it into your message and the pics will show up. Also WELCOME aboard and good luck!!!

Welcome to the forum, awesome story. You should see if your aunt has any of the docs that went with her buying it. That would help ya out down the road. Looks like it's going to be a very intense resto.

i know this depends on the condition of the car, but how much does a restoration usually cost? Im very much interested in this subject, so if anyone can direct me somewhere that would be great.

sorry if this was posted in the wrong area. but thanks in advance

Cool story. I've inherited my mom's '76 Monte Carlo as a restoration project (not doing myself). Wish I could say the same for my ruined Z28.

I think it's cool that a vehicle stays in the family and can get a 2nd chance at life in the drivelane. Be cool to see it's transformation as you go.
