Default advice about transmissions for a '79?

Hey, new here, names nick, ive got a '79 sport coupe, just need some advice with mechanics, i had a 305 roller recently put in, but the original 250 trans is still in and slipping, is it worth having the 250 fixed to use as a temporary trans until i save up for a 350? or will the 250 not be very compatible and be a waste of time & money? thanks, nick

I'd get a 350, if not even a Th400

That'll do you right. It'll be about $100 more than getting yours rebuilt.
