Hey all~
So, about me... I'm 21 years old, born in 1987. I've been a Camaro lover ever since I first laid eyes on the one I ended up buying, lol.
That was last year. Around the middle of June I was starting to look around for cars I'd like to buy. So I looked around a few places, not really sure of what I wanted. Having had no clue beforehand to even what a Camaro looked like, I ran a google search- Pure curiosity.
I ended up looking at http://davidt.com browsing through this guy's selection of Camaros and Firebirds. Instantly I knew I wanted one.
So I browsed. I looked through the website, gradually narrowing the choice to just two- a red 1990 Z28, for which he wanted $8500, and a black 1987 IROC-Z, for which he was asking $10,500.
I made plans to go to his lot- I got my dad to come with me, since he's been a mechanic for some 30 years- admittedly I knew next to nothing.
June 23rd, 2007. We drove across the city, in my mom's crap Jeep Compass :P
I looked around until I found both of the cars I was interested in, and immediately had a preference. My dad arrived and we started the puppy up, looked it over as good as we could. At that point I'd already made up my mind, but we went for lunch before anything, y'know, to provide the illusion that we weren't sure and thinking it over first. :P
We went back and argued over the price a little, eventually settling on $9250.
A week later, after they'd had a chance to fix a few things (new radiator, tires, battery, and a good proper washup) I took it home.
I took these pictures that same day:

It's got a 305 TPI, automatic transmission, and currently sitting at 136,000km.
She runs like a dream. Not a hint of rust anywhere, and the only problem it ever had... well, we replaced the brake calipers to fix an awful, horribly embarrassing grinding noise, and other than that she's been fine.
So there's my story, lol. 'tis my first car, and I definitely plan to hang onto it forever.

HeyI thought the Dollar was strong in the great white north? You guys check out the site he linked? The had a 97V6that is"insurance write off, uni-body structure repaired" for $8,200? Most of the project they have listed fron 4K to 6K would not bring 1K here in the states. As strong as your dollar is you could have come down here and got a pretty sweet ride for 5K.
I like this one.

Ehh... I wasn't in a position to look for any kind of project car or anything that needed any work at all, really. >.> I knew next to nothing about cars in general until I bought it.
As far as the car's story... I was told that it had only one owner before he got it- a couple from somewhere in the States, that it had been in a collision- the rear right quarter-panel, but they fixed it up well enough that you can't even tell. Told me he bought it for $7500, and he wasn't going to go lower than $9500, so I was lucky I managed to argue him down below that at all.
And condition... well, she's in good enough shape now that I could consider putting it in shows and such if I could put a bit more work into it.
Thanks for the welcomes, guys!
