Default would tranny be able to handle..?

I have a 96 z28 auto and I'm about to do a cam swap w/ LE1 ported heads, i also want to switch my rear gears from 273 to 342, but i was wondering if my 4l60E tranny w/ 70k miles on it would be able to handle both of these? or either of these? im kinda just assuming (hoping) itll handle this cam swap. but if not is there any fairly easy/decently priced way to build it up to be able to handle the cam&heads/gears?

heres a couple places to find parts and info. servo is one thing. have a look you may want to change the converter. trany should handle the motor. like you say its getting on in miles though.

For the record, lower rear gears = less stress on the engine and transmission to get the car in motion.

yah the rearend is the weakest point. my stock 4l60 was holding out just fine but the converter was not wanting to let the car stop.

fare sized cam and 1.6 rockers, wont idle well below 900. loads up. anything over 1000 the stock coverter was kicking in and sometimes it wants to idel at 1100. i really like this trany and once its tuned right with the 373s its gona make me want more hp. lol.

so does that issue have to do with the speed density thing that the 93 has?

thats what im thinking. runs rich at first startup then seems a bit lean. really runs rich without the pcmforless tune.
