Lookin to spend about 700 bucks on my 1996 z28 with a six speed, what would be the best bang for my buck. Thinking chip it, cat back, and cold air. Any suggestions?

 

id say programmer over chip because you can mess with things rather than have a preset tune. everything else sounds good for starters.

 

Your cat back and cold air alone will run you about $700. That would be a good start. Then you should look into getting headers next.

I think Specter is pretty justified in his chip rants, of course, maybe that's because I go on them too, but that's beside the point!

Either way, you need to start with the basic bolt-ons. Intake and cat back if you only have about $700 to spend, then save up for a good set of headers and a new Y pipe.
