i have a 96 z28 6 speed lt1, does anybody know what gears it came with or if it had different options, and how do i tell what ones if it had different options

fyi i can do 80mph on the highway and turn right at like 2k rpms

 

check your options codes and they will tell u what the car came with from the factory. they should be in the glove box, the center console or the door. they are three character codes with letters and numbers.
otherwise u can jack the back of the car up and block or jackstand it and block the front wheels so the car wont go anywhere. put the car in neutral and spin the wheels one revolution (make sure both back wheels are turning and going the same direction) at the same time count the number of times the driveshaft turns. if the drive shaft turns 3 and 1/4 turns u have a 323 if it turns almost 3 and 1/2 times its a 342.

heres the options codes for the 4th gen cars rearend gears.
GU1 : AXLE REAR, 2.41 RATIO
GU2 : AXLE REAR, 2.73 RATIO
GU4 : AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO
GU5 : AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO
GU6 : AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO

so there is no way that the car could of came with 373 from the factor

 

sure couldn't have...i almost guarantee your car has 3:42 gears

75-77 mph I turn around 2500rpm + -

4L60E and 3.23's

 

I want to put in a higher gear like 373 just to give a bit more zip from stoplight to stoplight

 

at 60 in my 6 speed, i turn 1400 rpm's. and i have 3.42's
