what to do this winter
#22
dads car is throwin 490 or so to the ground and its 5spd any way i have my dad off the line now whammer i can see stayin at 30 over like i am now and thank you for the advice like i said this will be a winter project and i do all my work my self since thats what i do as for cash thats what a project means.
490 WHP?
OK, so a 2005-2009 4.6 stock with manny tranny on a dynojet dyno puts down 265WHP on a good day.
You are telling us that Dad has 225 additional WHP? How much boost? Unless he's done internal work dad won't have that 4.6 for long. He is running on the edge.
Unless dad is really feathering the clutch or just roasting the tires, you aren't getting him off the line. Other than the 95 LT1, wanna guess what my other car is??
A bolt on LT1 beats the stock 4.6 from the dig.
If dad really does have what you say, and is making that kind of power, then with sticky tires, replacing the LCA's and depending on your altitude and temperature, dad is running low 11's all day long and could flirt with a 10.99, again, depends on the setup. If he has a tune for racing fuel then he'll put out even more when at the track and filled with racing fuel and running that tune.
You aren't going to seriously rape that with only a top end package

wow do read any thing or do you just post blind cuz if you would read the yop end package would be to best handle the turbos cuz yeah im no chump when come to building a motor so the lt1 that i have is rubbin 400 or so no i need a little more and yes i tear the hell out of my dad mustang and moost any mustang out of the hole so agian i thank whammer for the info

i can see where whamer is coming from and a single turbo my better suit my needs but a twin would be so much cooler and as for you torque my dads car on street tires is flirt with low 11S

on street tires? What gears does he have and what is his trap speed? If he's doing that on street tires then imagine with some stickies and new LCA's, he's in the 10.90's all day.
You are looking at needing a mid 10 second car to seriously rape dad
what have you done so far to get yourself to 400HP and is that RWHP or Flywheel HP ?

I can't tell if this post was meant for me or not? If it was, then as I read through your posts it appeared as if you were looking toward just a top end package. Again, please outline what you have already done to get to 400 HP and whether that is rear wheel HP or flywheel.
Also, what is the amount of available funds you have on hand to complete the project? With 490 RWHP on dad's S197 you say you are tearing the heck out of it and he has a 5 speed manny, then he's just roasting his tires. An LT1 with bolt ons and an S197 with bolt ons are pretty evenly matched, it comes down to the driver or tires and chassis mods.
Your dad has 490 RWHP which is about 190-200 RWHP more than a bolt on S197 give or take.
