Smile what compression to run

i am building a 97 lt1 twin turbo camaro. parts ordered already are heads, cam, turbo kit, head studs, ignition system, intake. i still need to figure out the fuel pump and the bottom end. all the parts ordered are for a turbo set up. i just don't know what compression to run. i know it is going to be low but how low is the question. the most boost i want is about 20 but plan on starting with 8 to 10 psi. thanks for any help.

It's usually best to run between 8.0:1 and 8.5:1 for most forced induction setups.

well thats beat do you have any dyno tuners? if not you could get a mail order tune but if its a serious boosted car i would suggest getting your own software and finding someone that knows wats up or learning yourself. what are the plans for this? how much boost? what size motor? if your gonna be goin with good H beam rods and diamond pistons ur most likly building a bad motor. total seal gapless rings and clevite H series bearings r both supposed to be the best

we have a 2 dyno shops here but they mainly do the pos ponys. the engine is stock bore and stroke lt1. i am a diesel tech so i am learning as i go i would like to tune it my self. i figure the more i can do my self the better. my ultimate goal is to beat my friend that has a twin turbo dodge 4wd pickup.(diesel) no one out here in hawaii can beat him yet. the boost i will start off low but work my way up. building the engine to hold to about 20lbs of boost.

yes your correct i am doing the whole build my self with friends help ofcorse. the only stock parts that i plan on using are the block and crank. do you think that the stock crank can handle that boost or do i need a different one. thanks for the advice. like i said before i am a diesel mechanic learning the gas engines as i go. i just want to do all the work my self more bragging rights. the turbo kit is all going to be custom built by me and friends.
