Default Water in my cai?

I have a 93 Lt1 Trans Am with 138,xxx. I was driving for a long period of time (about an hour and a half) on the highway in a bad rain storm last night and when I finally got close to home I stopped at a drivethru and my car started idling really oddly. First it dropped and started to rev and I had to hold the brakes down pretty firm to keep it from moving. Then I went to take off and whenever you give it gas it chokes and wants to stall. After parking and waiting I finally got it to stay running but I could only give it a little bit of throttle and drive home slowly or it would choke. I went to start it today and the idle is all over the place. I have no check engine light, oil pressure and all other gauges read normal... There is a moroso cold air intake setup on it where the cone sits near the wheel well, maybe it sucked some water up? I called a shop and they told me it sounds like water is in the disty cap but I just got this car and can not even find the distributor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

just sitting near the wheel well you would have to really smack a puddle to cause a problem. you may have gotten your optispark wet. this is a common problem with ur motor.

sorry, i wasnt very clear. the optispark IS the distributor for the lt1. its on the bottom of the motor so its prone to getting some water in there. once you get water in there its fried and needs to be replaced

Thank you very much... I'm looking at the parts to replace, there is a cap & rotor kit, is that what I need to replace or do I need to replace the actual "distributor"? They both look quite similar... I'm very new to the LT1 and optispark system. Thanks in advance.

You're going to want to replace the whole Opti, not just the cap and rotor. There are other sensors in the Opti that get fried and that's what you're looking to replace.
