i think of these kind of mods as final mods. only get minimum hp gain but when uve done all the big gain mods, thats all thats left.

Replacing the stock pullies on a street driven car is asking for problems. Also the gains are so small it is not worth it, in my opinion......

The LT1 engine uses a gear driven water pump, and the underdreive pulley will do nothing for it. The water pump is a power waster at high RPM because it moves more water than needed. The other acessories, such as alternator, AC compressor, & power steering pump, only use as much power as they need. Invest in an electric water pump instead, as its operation is not affected by engine speed.

The only problem with putting on an electric water pump, is it will put more of a load on the alternator, causing it to drag the engine down more.
Frankly, I don't think the small gain (if you will end up with one) of an underdrive pulley system is worth the expense.

You are right, the electric pump will add load to the alternator, but it won't be as high as that of the stock pump when the engine is all wound out. IMO unless you are strictly into racing, the whole idea is not worth the time and money, as it will only gain very few horses.
