Angry Transmissio: 4L60-e

Ok so a local shop here decided to tell me the pricing on the rebuild of my tranny was going to be 650, in amazement I agreed and then today I decide to call and be like ok ill take my car in, is it still 650? the guy says oh no the price was for labor itll be 1100 which still isnt bad...

But... I came up with an idea, dont they sell heavy duty kits for these transmissions for around 500 bucks? and if so, I was thinking about taking the tranny and doing it myself, my uncle use to rebuild them back in the day... So I was wondering where can I get these kits from and what all would I need besides what comes in the kit?
