Wow, these past few days have been hectic. The 4L60E Trans went out in my 1995 Z28. It got to where it wasn't wanting to shift hard at all between gears, it was very sluggish. So I took it to my local mechanic yesterday, he dropped the trans and said that it wasn't worth trying to save. So here is my question, is the trans in the Z28's the same as the 4L60E's in late model 2wd Chevy Trucks?And How much would you expect this tocost me by the time I'm finished?Any help would be appreciated! Thks

 

I think they used them in the S10s and a few others...do a google search on the tranny, you can get a replacement from EBay for around $700 shipped and all, don't know how reliable that is though....I just had mine rebuilt for $1500.

 

I had mine redone at AAMCO and with the 3 year warranty it was around $2300. I highly recommend doing it yourself if you can, or at least taking out the tranny and then taking it to the pros.
