so i read this book that said the cam sprocket and the crank sprocket dots have to both be at twelve oclock and the cam dole has to be at 9 oclock but someone told me that the cam sprocket should be at 6 oclock and the crank be at twelve oclock. who is right?

 

u want the dots lined up tooth to tooth, crank at 12, cam at 6.

you can do the 12/12/9 set up and have it be the exact same thing, but its easier to be off just a bit and get your chain off by a tooth. the 12/6/3 method is pretty much idiot proof and you shouldn't have any problems with it
