Very carefully! Seriously, the timing is computer controlled, there is no manual adjustment possible, but it can be done by reprogramming the PCM. The PCM advances timing till it gets a knock signal from the Knock Sensor, and then backs the timing off a bit, if it sees no more knocks it advances the timing a bit. Keeps doing this till the timing is advanced just below the knock level. So there is really no need to mess with the timing. Also automatically adjusts for different octane ratings.
