Time for a new ignition coil ?

Default Time for a new ignition coil ?

So I finished up the plug wires....my old ones were arching. I thought that would take care of the problem with the car but it didn't.

Here's whats going on. Its a 96 Z28.

It cuts out when accelerating only sometimes....randomly.

Plus it seems to have a funny smell after starting the engine....Like a flooded smell....Then again it does have off road headers and an ORY and a SLP Loudmouth I.

And it idles rough some times randomly. I was doing some searching on google just now and found some other people with the same problem I am having, and they were talking about the coil.

So I'm thinking about putting a new coil and wire on the car.

I was wondering if anyone has some instructions or a step guide to doing this.

It doesn't look too terribly bad...but I guess you never know.

well or it could be the opti mine did that once it got real bad

check the fuel pressure. have you had it scanned for codes? how old are the 02 sensors and where they in there when the headers where installed.

I just put the 02 sensors in. They are new.

I scanned it for codes and I had the following:

1. MAF

2. Skip Shift

3. EGR

The car has the skip shift eliminated, I didn't re use the EGR system because the headers are off road. The MAF I'm not sure why....So I bought a new one from GM.

I haven't checked the fuel pressure though.

But when it cuts out you can hear it cutting out....

How do you check the fuel pressure ?

After you replaced the MAF did you rescan for codes? Was the MAF code still present? If so, then I would start checking the connectors and wiring for it.

I have same problem besides mine is 100% stock..

Ive replaced coil,ICM,Pulgs, Wires, both MAfs, fuel pump, o2 sensors. I have yet to find the fix..

ALDL OBD1 OBD cable OBDI OBD2 engine codes
