does it throw a CEL code when you start with the air intake off?

 

No dash lights come just hear an air sound then shuts off...

 

Hmmm...I've run throttle body engines with the air inlet off before (for maintenance) and never had one want to kill. Will it stay running if you give it some throttle? You may just have to run fast from the ignition to under the hood.
