Default Temp gauge

Hi everyone,
Got in my 94 Z this morning, and within about 3 minutes my temp gauge was pegged past 260. No way it was already hot as it's below 60 degrees and raining. About a 15 minute drive to work, occasionaly, the temp would drop back to about half way the gauge for a moment, only to peg out again shortly after. Engine is in no way even close to hot...Any ideas? Thanks in advance....PS, did notice the heater was not working...blowing cool air.

sure sounds like its low on coolant. yes a motor can get that hot in a few minutes if theres no coolant and the heater will not work or will do what u are saying.

how hot would the heater normaly get in that time. You probably have light that would tell you it is low of coolant don't trust it chack it your self crab is prob. rite if you have coolant it maybe something to do with the thermostat.
