I say just get the STS rear mount turbo kit. It's $4,000 which isn't cheap, but its direct bolt on and you don't have to deal with all the hassle of mocking up and creating your own custom piping and everything.

Ok, I'll be the one to say it...
You are not gonna be able to build a reliable turbo system for under $1000.

Read that, do your research, then come back and let us know. If after all of that you still think you can build a reliable turbo system for under $1000, tell us how. I am sure there are MANY members who would be interested, myself included.
Your best bet is to spend that $1000 on headers, ported intake and a tune.
Good luck and kill Rustanks!!!

OK for some speed, you can find a 100-150 wet shot nitrous kit from NX or Zex for around $700-$1000. Stock LT1s can handle about 100 shot or so, so if you have a built block then you should be good with a setup like that, so drop the boost and go juice!!

Plan on spending at least a couple of grand at least and thats considering you create your own rear mount system. I say rear mount because you dont need special turbo headers. However i would at least have a set of good long tubes on it. If you wanna know more on how to build one this might help you Build Your Own Turbo Kit
You should know how to weld BTW, or have a buddy that is handy with a welder. I would not go above 4 psi or so on the stock bottom end due to the lt1 having 10.5 to 1 compression.

To be honest If it were my car I wouldn't boost it at all unless you beefed up the bottom end and got new pistons with lower compression, 10.5:1 compression and a supercharger is a lot. You will most likely not be able to run pump gas in it. ProCharger Supercharging FAQ’s read the section "what type of fuel...".
