Question T-56/ 10 bolt issues

Ok, this is whats going on:

1995 Z28 M6

When shifting from 1-2 under partial throttle, there is a clunk and a jolt that sounds like its coming from the differential.

I feel the shifter lever moving under acceleration. It just starting doing this.

Also, when doing a clutch dump or fast acceleration, the tires skip instead of spin.

I am brand new to standard trannies, so it might be something simple. Please help me keep my Tremec alive!!

Thanks in advance.

Sure sounds like your transmission mount is torn. The torque arm from the rearend is attached to the tail of the trans. With a torn mount, the torque will lift the rear of the trans and let it bang the tunnel. Your shifter moving or lifting is another side effect.

Ok, so how expensive are mounts, how difficult are they to replace and how long can I drive the car before I have to change them. I have to make a 670 mile round trip road trip tomorrow...... Thanks.

You can drive with the mount torn, just go real real easy on the right foot so you don't go lifting the tranny. Changing the mount is fairly easy, two bolts on the trans and one on the crossmember. But you need to jack up and brace the car (with stands) so you can get under it. And jack up on the tail of the trans to clear it for getting the mount off and back on.
