Do you still think it's my opti? When I installed it she ran perfect for half a day.

Try unplugging the MAF wires. The car will run OK with the MAF unplugged, but it will force the PCM into open loop. This means that it will run on a preprogrammed mode and ignore most sensor inputs. If the surging stops with the MAF disconnected, it indicates a sensor problem, but not necessarily the MAF.

The one I removed looked good on the outside, and on the inside was some rust in the bottom on the opti. The one I put on worked fine last I used it but was covered in oil and has 130k on it. I will try running it with the maf disconnected.

Thanks

Default Disconnected maf sensor

Ok, I tried it with the maf disconnected and it surged much more. If I held the rpms at 1,200 it would surge up and down about 150rpms.

After reading some post about an LT4 cam. Would not replacing the stock springs cause any problems? I have the LT4 hot cam with stock springs and rockers.

^^^right on. lt4 hot cam kits for the lt1 come with heavier springs. should get some 1.6 rockers to.
