They Make Street Legal Headers That Allow For Emission Control. Just Not Sure If Cali Allows Headers. My Guess Would Be Yes As Long As You Can Pass Exhaust Emissions. There Are Lots Of High Performance Parts Designed Just For Your Application. I Recently Installed A MSD Pro-Billet Distributor And It Came With A Little Silver Tag To Display "If You Happen To Be From Cali" Stating That The Distributor Is Legal To Run. Wish You Luck. Sick

To be completely emission legal in California, and NY City Metro, all non factory issued equipment has the be approved by the California Air Research Board (CARB) and marked with the approval number. Aditionally, OBDI cars will be visually checked to see that all pollution equipment is in palce, and then dyno tested, with a pollution sniffer in the tailpipe. OBDII cars wil also be visually checked to see that all pollution equipment is in place, and a scanner is attached to the car to check for any pollution related trouble codes.

basically if you ever have to do a smog test...all your parts on your car have to be legal...basically stock...if all you have to do is a smog check...it doesnt matter if you have stock parts or not...just wheter it pasts the test or not...if i were you i would mod your car regardless of rules...but keep all the stock parts so when you do have to take the test ...just swap them back...easy stuff like headers and exhaust. yadamean?
