stop the water
I had an idea a few months ago, finally got around to doing it. it was really simple really ; Install an 1/8 NPT street L in the weep hole of the LT1 water pump then a barb with hose to safely let the water flow under the car. here is the proof of concept

How do you keep the chips from the machining process from falling into the plump causing it to fail?
As a general rule machining an assembly that can not be taken apart and cleaned is a huge no no. One metal chip in the wrong place can destroy the assembly pretty quickly.

on the "no water" side of the seal It is not a problem. It will settle to the bottom of the pump cavity and stay there., besides there is worse crap than that on the other side of the seal!!
