quick question what would happen if I unpluged the iac and drove it?

It may or many not idle properly as the IAC will remain at whatever opening it had at the time it was unplugged.

well it isn't the iac. put a new one in and it still surges

i would test the maf and take the 02 sensors out to see if there all black and test them to see what there seeing. would be a big help if the mechanic has a diagnostic machine that can test these while running. neither are cheap.

thanks craby, i unplugged the maf and it made no difference. he said he was going to look into the o2's tomorrow. he also said he contacted somebody who said something about a bad ground on the iac will cause it too.
