Default Shifter upgrade

I had a question, and was wondering if you can put an after market shifter, like a B&M shifter into an 01 Z-28.

Also wondering if it can be done with little mod , so it still looks the same but with the shifter installed, nice and clean like. I have a picture in my head and it looks really cool. I'm thinking B&M console megashifter,,, please help! Thanks.

Are we talking an auto or a manual car here? Really you can do either, with an auto it's just a matter of replacing the physical handle, with a manual you can replace just the shifter to get you a shorter throw or the whole linkage (although most people just go for the short shifter). If you have a manual and you just want something that looks different you can always just replace the shift **** as well.

By the way, you can edit your posts, so there's no need to double post.

Thanks for the reply, It is auto, sorry about that. So you are saying that this should be a simple mod? No problems? I'm just a little scared i might mess some thing up, or run across some thing unexpected. Like i said car is stock at the moment, but i have ordered my exhaust already. (Magna Flow cat back performance exhaust, and K&N filter) Very excited, cant wait to hear it sound like a Z28 should. So i am just getting started and i am sure i will have a lot more questions. By the way i checked out your album. Your Z28 looks great. love it. If you have any newbie tips I'd be happy to hear them. Thanks again.

You shouldn't have any issues putting a new **** to replace your old one (even on an auto). That said, make sure you research your product and confirm that application fits your vehicle.

As far as "newbie tips" check out the "Where to start modding" thread in the 4th Gen section, it has a lot of good information that should help you get started if you're looking into further modding.

Thanks for the compliments on the car, it's part the car and the other part is having a decent camera and photo equipment. A good camera and a good setting can make or break a photo.
