Default Security Light (yes I did a search)

Okay so I've had this '94 Z28 for a few weeks now. After a few weeks the security light on the dash stayed on while driving. I searched the posts on different sites and most speak about non-start sec. light issues. Well mine starts and I tried a different key (since the non-starts suggest that you should clean/try a different key) to see if that fixed the problem. It didn't. So then (from what I have read) they suggest a new tumbler. That I haven't tried but I was going to see what ya'll say about my situation. Keep in mind it starts and runs fine but the security light stays on (as of lately). Also, I don't know if it has an aftermarket alarm or not but I am able to contact the previous owner to find out...

Thanks!

I have the same problem. The light being on is the only problem. I want a healthy looking dash.

Probably a bad VATS (theft deterrent module), or lamp wiring shorted to ground.

According to a friend who had this same issue, it turned out that she had a key made and they didn't match the resistance of the resistor in the key properly when they made the key. It seems there are multiple values available. Maybe a new key would do the trick. She had one made by someone who knew what they were doing and no more sec light. Just a though.
