Security Light
Yesterday tried to start my 94 Z only to hear a click and a lighted security light. A number of years ago I had the same situation, towed it to a garage only to be told that they were not qualified to fix the problem. I had to tow it to a dealer to have a new lock and key installed.
This time I disconnected the battery and reconnected and voila....car started. My question is ….is this a signal of problems to come or is it just a computer glitch which was cured by rebooting?

I wondered the same thing, Craby. If the battery connections were bad enough to not to engage the starter because of a low voltage condition, then it may also be possible the BCM wouldn't be able to provide the correct 5V reference signal needed to determine the proper VATS input. When a coil transformer is used and a lower supply voltage is applied, a there would also be a lower output voltage because of the ratio between the primary and secondary windings of the transformer. Basically, the input and outputs voltages are proportional. I'm not sure of how a solid state voltage device would be affected by a condition like this.
