Default Sealing the Opti??

So i am putting in a new optispark (distributor) because my water pump leaked on it and fried it. I know this is a common problem because the water pump is mounted directly around it. SO i was wondering.... When I put the new one on, do you think i could seal the optispark so no moisture gets in?

Wanted to check before i did it.

Thanks,
Derek

I have a 93 z and it came with a non vented optispark. I bought the vented and used rtv blue to seal it. I had my upper radiator hose blow and it poured every last drop of hot coolant on the opti and it still works to this day. I should point out that three other hoses have busted since. If you don't have new hoses and can afford to get them, please do.

I did the same thing to my car several years ago, just for grins & giggles. I don't know if has helped any, but definitely has not caused any problems.
