Default sbc 400?

Im really wanting to get rid of my lt1, but im looking to put in a sbc 400. i want to stroke and bore to a 434. I'm wondering since they are the same size block would it fit? Can I make this work reasonably?

what cam are you running? If your signature is true, you don't need to go backwards to a gen 1 sbc

If you do go to a SBC 400, give me a price on your LT1 because looking at your sig, if the price is right, I wouldn't mind scooping that up off your hands (:

But back on the topic, yeah you will most likely be able to get the block to fit, but what about the top end? A carb will not clear the cowl and since you will be getting rid of EFI, what do you plan on doing about all the other sensors that keep the car running? Just saying, it's a lot more difficult than it sounds.

Just remember your PCM does more then just keep your motor running. It keeps just about everythink else running. Including your Transmision (assuming its an automatic)Security system, your antilock brake system and everything in your dash.

Most people that do this just gut everything and make a race car out of it. The motor mount are not exact you will need to either make ones or buy a Tubular SBC Cross member. We has one member who has installed a SDC in his 4th gen and got everything work but the AC. He estimated it cost him 5Gs. For that kind of money you should look into a LS1 swap and keep your computer

I have a 6 speed. and I don't care anything about ac. brakes is another story. And I just don't want to become another ls guy. I like carbureted and simple. this is just a weekend car. no elevation changes. I'm sure I can sneak away my wiring harness somewhere.
