Default Running Cold

Hello all, it's good to be back in the states and driving the Camaro again.

Here is my problem...I have a '93 Z28 that is running cold. The temp gauge never reads over 110 - 115 degrees. Being that it's been cold outside for the last week, i could understand if it were running cooler than before...but this is kind of ridiculous. I changed out the thermostat, thinking that was the problem...but has not helped out. Can anyone help me out on this? Also, the gas mileage has been much worse (5 to 8 mpg worse), and the car had been sitting in my garage from Sept till late January.

I heard something about reseting the computer...would that help at all?

Thanks for any help.

Is the heater blowing warm air?

It blows semi-warm air...not nearly enough to heat the interior of the car.

Replace the thermostat, they usually break in the open position and the engine stays cold. Resetting computer will not help.

I just tested my old thermostat by boiling it...and it opened up just fine. (I wasn't sure what a stuck open thermostat would look like).

So if it wasn't the thermostat causing the car to run cold...what else could it be?

Stuck open means it is open all the time. Put in a 190 stock tstat made for your car& make sure it is in the right direction. Engine temp is controlled by the tstat, if engine gets too hot the fans get turned on. If the stat is closed the coolant can't circulate and the fans have no effect.

I already replaced my thermostat with a 180 degree (manufacturer spec) thermostat. The problem still persists...the car is running cold.

I wasn't sure what a tstat looked like if it were stuck open, so I boiled my old one to see if it would open up because it looked closed. It did open up...which means it wasn't broken or stuck open...which means my car was running cold with a perfectly good tstat.

So, my problem is, my car runs cold, and I get little heat, with a perfectly working thermostat (the brand new one and the old one)...can anyone help?
