Default rockers

Hi All, Playing with a 93 Z28/6spd. Don't want to do a total rebuild but looking for a few more hp, am doing headers and cold air.. question, is updating the springs, seal, and adding 1.6 rockers worth the effort? Will get a tune also when all is said and done. First project Z car got a bit more to do before its road ready, to say the least. Thanks! Any other ideas, 160 tstat will be part of the plan. It has the 3.23 rear /M29 trans..

I think I'd want to ad a cam, lifters and new timing chain to the mix.

Please let me know how you make out with just the rockers, I have pretty much the same car with the same mods and a set of GM 1.6 rockers sitting doing nothing. Don't go crazy on the valve springs. Slightly better then stock would be fine. You don't want to stress those stock lifters.

In theory the stock tune would not be bad because you are increasing the valve opening without changing the dynamics of the CAM duration. If you change the Cam a tune may be needed. Once the opti fails then do the CAM

Yes the great Opti.lol. Was just guessing the extra lift might help a bit to be worth the work to install. Got a bit of work to do and to tag it yet.

leave the 180 thermostat. with the mileage and buget i would not do to much to the engine other than the cai and headers, look into a cat back of your taste. might try lt4 spings with the 1.6 rockers. i would not expect to much gain from it. heads and exhaust are the choke point on the lt1. give solomon at lt1pcmtuning a shoutout and see if he thinks a tune would gain hp worth the bucks.

I'm with Craby, keep OE temp on the t-stat. The 160* isn't worth squat.

Cool Thanks guys! will look into the tune , it will get the exhaust headers , has a cat back now. Am a GM tech , Saab guy mostly..:-) Turbos are good mmmmkay....... This is my 1st GM toy, it should be ok and a bit of fun too. Thinking if all goes well will get a later Gen 4,say a 2002.. LS does make the hp and easy to get it to go. The 94 I work on, has a very nice LT1 in it ,has had a crap load of stuff done. Strange is it still has the 10 botl and it is a peg leg now..lol. Will get a 9" or a 12 bolt this winter. Thinking of doing some of the mods to mine since it wont see 400hp or much drag time, just going to be a putt around toy... famous last words...
