rear diff
94 z28 stock lt1. rear is stock. I just want to make sure I ID'd my diff correctly as a GM 7.5, right? It has the original limited slip (G80 i think) and I wanted to swap gears and a better limited slip. Its not a track car, just a street and maybe a little strip use later. I wanted to know what posi you used that worked well for the $$.
Go here to RockAuto for definition and purchase, maybe

lol, ford 9 inch... aftermarket gears whine pretty good. have a look at this https://www.hotrod.com/articles/hppp...arend-rebuild/ may want to look around to see what wrecking yards have in your area. might get lucky and find a 342 or 373 stock setup.

The 10 bolt stock rear isn't the strongest thing on the planet,Auburn gear was the factory upgrade option for the posi,Yukon should be better than stock and somewhat less money than the Auburn. Is your car a stick or auto?
Well behind an auto it should hold up fine assuming mostly stock and no wild stall converter etc.
I have a manual 6 speed and about 400 rwhp,so far so good I haven't broken mine and I've pounded on it pretty hard a few times..
The 4th gen SS cars could get a 12 bolt rear from SLP but very few got it and even the Auburn posi option is fairly rare.
The rear end is one of the few things still stock in my car,it's got 3:42 gears if I remember right and I plan on getting an Auburn or Yukon posi with 3:90's probably next summer.
