Default Re: Heater

I have read up on flushing the heater core to restore the heater. I have verified the vent door is opening/closing using the temperature control ****.

I have loosend the heater core clamps and am attempting to pull the hoses off but they won't budge for the love of god. I am afraid of ripping them. Anyone have a suggestion to safely remove them?
Its a 97 LT1 btw.

Use a utility knife and shave the hoses off the fitting. The hoses should be replaced after all the years anyway.

Alright fellas,

Drained the coolant to help relieve pressure got the hoses off, flushed and backflushed all the crud out of the heater core and now I got heat . It feels nice not to freeze in the 'Maro the leather seats didnt help either.

The search feature on here is very helpful and thanks for the responses as usual you guys are on point.

Do I actually just put a garden hose onto one end and then the other of the heater core to flush it? I thought I read somewhere on here too much pressure comes out of the regular hose?? Sounds like a pretty easy procedure. I assume the coolant must also be refilled and burped for this procedure. Comments?

yes just dont turn it on all the way. your right the cooling system is rated at like 20lbs and a average public water system is around 50lbs pressure.
