Default Heater box

Hi Guys I'm starting to get the parts together to put a 454 in my 78 camaro. I am in need of a heater box that don't have the A/C my car has a/c and i don't think there will be room for the big a/c box with the big block in there. If anybody has one that they want to sell or know where i can get one i would apperciate any help. Thanks in advance.

If your car has AC then you can't just slap a regular heater box on it without doing some filling on the firewall I think. Pretty sure the holes for AC cars are different than those for std. Camaros. Also need the inner heater box assembly too since they bolt together.

They sell an a/c delete panel that will eliminate the big a/c box. There are a few places that sell them, but the cheapest i have found is camaro central. Here is a link to the one they have,it's $119,it's at the bottom of the page.

That's a very cool part! That saves redoing everything inside, which will really save time and money!

Wow thats alot cheaper than NPD, they want $159. Vall's right though, you can't just swap. If you wanted to cut the firewall out of a non ac car and weld it in, that can be done. I have a both cars, I still want the delete box.

Yeah i was planning on getting one from acdelete.com until i seen the one for 119,before that one the cheapest i had seen was 150.I also seen a few people use their existing box and just cut the big part off and fiberglass it,although i tried this with mine and it came out horrible haha,so i figure for $119,it will be easier and look alot better than what i did.

Thank you for letting me know that. I wasn't aware that they were different. Do I have to get the inner heater box from a non a/c car then? Thanks for your help.

Nope. It just bolts on and then mount the fan. Plug it in and your done. The heater control w/ ac will work the same except the ac setting will do nothing.

Yeah like he said ^.You can even reuse the same blower motor as long as it is good.Just unbolt it from the old box and put it on the new one.The only mod you need to make is to cut a hole in the new box for the resistor thing that is mounted in the a/c box,not sure what it's called but it's the thing with 3 little springs on it,you just cut a hole to mount it inside the new box and your good to go.
