Default Question about shop changing the Opti

I have been wanting to change the opti in my car for a while and have been too busy to do it myself. About how much am I looking at in labor costs at a shop?

You're looking at about$500-$600 at a shop, or $1000 at the dealership, man. At least that is what shops around here charge... You are really better off doing it yourself. My Z is dead in the water at the moment as well. Its really not the hard

Water pump and Optispark Replacement - Firebird Nation

There's a REALLY good writeup on how to do it. Should not take more than 2 hours (guessing here)

Good luck and kill Rustanks!!!

about 3 hours for me...in shop, at prob $99 an hour, you could easily be spending $300 on labor plus the price of the opti.!

Don't skimp out when you change the opti and get one of the $99 eBay cheap Chinese knock-offs. A good quality opti is going to run you a couple hundred bucks.

Also, it is a good time to replace the plugs and wires and waterpump while you have it all torn apart.

Shop rates at the local shop are very low not sure of exact rate but I believe its around 70 an hour and they do good work. Im going with an msd whenever i get around to it. The car runs good but every once in a while is has a slight miss in it. I figured since the car just hit the 100k mark and is 15 years old it was probably the opti causing it. I have changed the plugs and wires already so...
