Default Another Opti Question

Hello, I am new to internet forums and this is my first post, so please don't laugh! Anyway, I have a 1993 Z-28 and I think my opti is acting up. My question is this, What do I have to do to install a opti off of a 1995 Trans Am if anything. A friend of mine has one that was working just fine and before I buy a new one, I wanted to see if it would fix my problem. Any kind of acceleration and the car misses and has no power. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

95 is going to be a vented opti so you'll need a vented elbow.

Also, it doesn't seem smart to install a used distributor.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't GM change the cam drive system in 95? So if I'm thinking right, a Opti off a 95 Trans Am won't work.

But yeah, you're just better off replacing it with a new one. And if the water pump hasn't been changed recently, I'd buy a new one of those also.

That's correct, the newer vented style opti won't work with the old unvented style cam drive.
You can give an unvented opti a vent update modification, to make it as reliable as the factory vented style. Opti-Spark Options

Just changed the waterpump out yesterday, and Opti was dry, both were original at 157k miles. DO THE PUmp, you dont wanna go there again soon, toughest Ive ever done... and the car is SO quiet.

BTW, also changed tranny fluid to Dextron VI with a tad of Lucas tranny additive, and the T56 is precise butter. in fact now the whole car is too quiet...

Hey, thanks alot for all of the replys. I was only going to try his opti but if it that big of a pain then I will just buy a new one. And yeah, I changed the plugs this past weekend and it only took 2 hours. 20 minutes on the drivers side. My arms are still cut up pretty good. Again, thanks alot for helping me out.
