Default Proper engine Temp

My 94 Z28 with LT1, always runs about 240 degrees in traffic or hot days, has new water pump, hoses, radiator, heater core, all GM. I was told the factory settings for the radiator fans is about 230 and 240 degrees. I had this reset for the fans to come on at 185 and 195. Now it does fine and the temp stays the same in all conditions at about 190 or so. Does this engine need the engine temps to be higher for proper efficiency? Is it OK at this temps? Will the thermostat open and close? it is a factory 195 degree.
Thanks a lot, Hot Rod Power tour is coming up and I want it to be OK.

it sounds like your running at the right temp now. as it if oft said here, bleeding the coolant system properly is very vital to the LT1's health. my gauge never goes past 190, even in 100 degree weather idling at a long light. sounds like you replaced the parts needing attention etc. best wishes

I have a 180 degree thermo and the fans kick on at around 190

While cruising on the highway the temp gauge sticks at 180ish and I've had no cooling issues at all for 6 years

I do however have a major problem in between the steering wheel and the seat and have been told that there's no cure for that.

test both temp sensors. one on water pump and one by #1 spark plug. agree with bleeding, making sure your system has all the air out of it is a must do. look here https://camaroforums.com/forum/lt1-l...-system-66742/ has it boiled over at all?

ya thats fine I run mine at 180 for my 406 ,couse in reality it gets hotter ,about 190 ,but the fans come on at 180 an shut off at like 165,high performance engines tend to run hotter too, just as long as we don't over heat
