Question Power Steering pump - reversed??

My local shop has been trying for two days to get a proper replacement for my bad power steeering pump. Now they tell me that the pump I have works in the opposite direction (clockwise/counter-clockwise I can't remember). They plan to have my current power steering pump rebuilt. Does this make sense? The previous owner removed All of the AC components.

No. I don't believe that there is an AC delete pulley.

i would say the belt has been re routed and now some things spin the oposite direction. seems to me it would have been easier to get the delete pulley.

Unless they did what I plan on doing which is deleting the a/c delete pulley by putting a clockwise spinning power steering pump on the car and moving the alternator down where the a/c was.

94Z, does the power steering pump that was on the car have a smoothed pulley (smooth side of belt spins it) or a grooved pulley (raised side spins it)?

MKCoconuts,
From your garage pictures, my alternator is located in the same position as yours. BTW.. You seem quite the craftsman. Nice repaint and rebuild job! I wish I had the space, and the skill, to do what you did.

Thank you. Much time and effort and still not close to where I want it.

Now I'm curious how the previous owner of your car routed the belt while keeping the alternator in the same spot without a a/c delete pulley. Any chance you could get us some pictures?
