Default opti dying? I need help!!

Ok so my car wouldnt start a few weeks ago, it finally started and ran fine untill yesterday. It wouldnt start again and just cranks and then chokes for a few seconds. I finally did get it started and it was running terribly, not running on all cylinders. it gets worse at low rpm under a load and gets better at high rpm.

my dad said it was the plugs so i got new ones and pulled the old ones out. all the plugs on the driver side were COVERED in carbon and the ones on the passenger side looked perfect. anyways with all new plugs in it its still running the same way with really hard starts.

Is it possible the opti died? Is arcing out? and why would it only seem to be bad on the driver side?

My initial thought of what you described was plugs as well. If your plugs are covered with carbon check your O2 sensors and make sure they're outputting the correct signal (steady voltage is bad).

Especially the O2 on the driver side. If you have a 93 (batch fire injectors) check to see that the control lead does not have a steady ground on it and holding those injectors open all the time.

car had the same trouble i changed and i had a broken rotor and it melted my cap. i found a guy that actually has working opti cap and rotors on ebay for 30 bucks, bought one it worked great and i bought one for a friend of mine works great for him. so its a cheap way to see if thats what it is.
