what should the oil pressure be on a LT1 V8 when driving and idling ? is there a way to tell if a oil pump is going bad...just curious

 

Fukky warmed up engine. Minimum of 5 PSI @ idle, 15 PSI @ 1000 RPM., increasing 10 PSI per 1000 RPM. Generally, low oil presssure is the result of worn engine bearings, bad oil filter, internal leaks, or clogged oil passages. The oil pump is pretty reliable and is the best lubricated part of the engine. Rather than wearing out is usually breaks.
