Default oil leak 93 lt1

I purchased a 93 z28 LT1 6 speed with 100,000 miles a couple of weeks ago. The car is in excellent shape with no stains on the interior and the exterior is the same way. You can literally eat off the engine. But a couple days ago the car developed a very slow oil leak, like 1-2 drips per night. I crawled under it today and noticed that the oil is coming from the very bottom big pulley. I believe that it crank. WHere it comes out of the block. I dont knot if ths is common. The car is my weekend car and possibly show car. any help is really appreciated.

look and see if theres a trail going up the engine. check the opti and see if its got oil on it. theres three areas oil can come from in the front. the shaft seal for the opti, shaft seal for the water pump, front seal on the crankshaft. all these are in the front cover and arent to hard to change. about the same as changing the opti. only one more step. recomend the seal tool for the water pump seal. above theres the everpresent intake manifold end. both ends leaked on mine. got rid of all my oil leaks a while back. engine had been overheated a few times i think, all the gaskets were hardened and brittle. replaced oil pan, intake, and front cover gaskets and the seals.

Might I also suggest (if not already done) with the car having that many miles and since you're taking these parts off anyway. Replace the water pump and opti. You'll have them off and no sense in doing all that work only to have to go thru that again in a few days, weeks or months. Hey Craby what water pump seal tool are you refering to?

its a plastic end that fits over the end of the shaft that sticks out and lets the seal rubber ring slide over it without hanging up. went through three seals before i got it right without the tool. the seal has two seal serfaces one inside and one outside. if u dont use it the inner seal ring inverts to rest under the outer seal or it tears it. i couldnt find anything around here to substitute, sky rocket ends were to big.
