Default obd1 to usb cable + software

Is anyone running the obd1 to usb cable with thier laptop, software ect ect? sorta seems like a good investment. just like a scanner i guess...reading ur sensors in real time then playing it back. Good tool for racing at the track im thinking. Anyways just looking for some feed back and what program to get is the best, is it worth the money ect ect....http://mefiburn.com/sc/toplevel.asp?cat=2......thx.

1995 is kind of an odd year. I think it is a OBD2 connector but not 100% OBD2 compatable. It has been reffered to OBD 1.5. I was going to do this for my 96 but I was rushed and the hand held unit get pretty cheap once the next years modles come out.

To the best of my knowledge none of the free software allow tuning. Just veiwing of code and data.

1955 is OBDI, but ALDL connector is OBDII, so you need an OBDI scanner with an OBDII cable.

I have C.A.T.S tuning software for a ’94 Camaro (ODB1 cable & software) . For C.A.T.S, you have to buy the cable, the software, and a definition file for your specific car. The trial version does not allow you to edit any values or to open the individual tables to see the values that are already there. C.A.T.S. is supposed to work with Windows Vista, but I had trouble with it (even after following their special instructions). I was able to get it to work with Windows XP without a problem.

I think LT1 Edit is also popular. I bought C.A.T.S. instead of LT1 Edit mainly because you can use it for multiple cars and I read that LT1 Edit is locked to one VIN. There are some links below that may help you decide what you want or call the support techs with questions.

sm515: I’m glad I could help and thanks for the beer. Let me know how it goes for you.

craby: That sucks that the software isn’t available for Macs. Does this mean you’re going to switch to PCs? You should be able to find a cheap Windows laptop online.

cable arrived a while back, just been busy with xmas stuff to post. 70 bucks to the door, well worth it. below is c and p from an email i sent to someone else the day i got it when i was still exited about it. basically tho u can make ur own conclusions.....download the free 20 trials (TTS DATAMASTER) and download the right version for your car. install it on ur pc and in there you will find 2 existing files from someones car.play around with it.

bought a cable too that enables me to view and record all the sensors on my car in real time via that laptop. works amazing. i cant change anything but just reads stuff like rpm, mph, coolent temp, throttle position, oil pressure ect. some other functions with the program too like air/fuel ratio graph, it will show codes before the ses light will come on (code 36 for me and im almost certain my dist is bad), dynometer (pick 2 points on this graph while in the same gear put in ur weight, airodym, tires revs, tranny gear and click caculate....mine was 325hp but wasnt sure of the weight as im eating cheeseburgers way to much). probably not too accurate but if its consistant i could change some stuff then take it for a rip and see the difference and then theres the coooooool factor.
