Default OBD1 to OBD2 PCM swap

I have a 95 lt1, and as most of you know is OBD1 with the OBD 2 port. Why that is some of u's may never know. Fun year to buy a camaro. ANYWAY! Ive been looking around and done some research, but I haven't been able to find someone who just flat out asked: is it possible to change the obd1 PCM to obd2 from a 96 or 97? From what ive researched, and correct me if I'm wrong, the only engine difference is the knock sensor, CPS and the two extra O2 sensors, and that the wiring harness is the same. So does that mean it's just plug and play? And if that's the case, will I have to do anything to the port to read the codes? Your probably asking why I want to do this, and it's because the "on the go" or onboard monitoring equipment available to obd1 vehicles are limited to almost non existent. Another thing. Where would you take your Z's PCM to get tuned? or how would I find someone in my area?

i thought obd2 used different voltage for its sensors. have you checked to see if the sensors for the 95 and 96 are the same part numbers?

It can be done if you are a masochist. The OBDII computer looks for sensors that are not installed in the OBDI engines. Some sensors such as the KPS are not installed in the older engines, and to install them on the older engine will require a different front cover, and a the newer Opti. LT1 Edit is available for tuning the OBDI PCM.

Well my car already has the vented opti with the vacuum lines. I'm pretty sure the only difference in the 95 lt1 and the 96 is what I said earlier

you will need at least the engine bay wiring harness. Maybe some of the wiring under the dash as well. You will need the crank sensor and also find out what if any changes were made with the Opti between OBDI and OBDII. If you dont change the engine harness you could also get wrong pinouts and fry the new computer.
