Default o2 sensors w/ headers.

I recently installed long tube headers on my 96 Z. My old sensors were stuck in my cats and exhaust so I trashed them. I picked some up from the parts house, however, they are not long enough to reach the back of my headers. The headers I purchased came with some extra wire. Can I splice the o2 sensors or is that a bad idea?

I'm pretty sure you can solder the wires together. I think that's what Craby did. I'd just make sure you put some kind of heat wrap over them too and tuck them away where they won't get burned or cut.

Seems like lately I've been following MK around adding to posts after his ha. You can solder them together and wrap them as mentioned, or you can buy the o2 extensions which allow the wiring to reach with the LT's.

Ha I noticed. It's working well. I'm forgetting things and are unsure of it and then you pop up, agree and add on with something I hadn't thought of.

i guess its best to use a good sealing crimp connector, at least from what i gather the solder effects the reading.

Since when does solder have a negative effect on a reading? If the connections are made properly then soldered extended O2s will be much more accurate than crimped or snap on extensions.

yep thats what i thought but it causes a thicker spot in the wire and that changes the resistance and that changes the readout. now this is what i have read. i have not been able to confirm or disprove it yet. i am considering a a/f gages hooked into my unused bungs
