No Oil Pressure?
I just rebuilt my motor, and I drove it around about 2 miles. Then the oil pressure was normal. I got headers installed, and after they were installed I noticed my oil gauge was at 0 oil pressure. Not again! When I revved it it would go up some, but then just go back down to zero as I let off. What could cause this? I am about fed up with my camaro and am wanting to sell it. I don't think it will ever be fixed! GRR. Help would be appreciated.
Oil pump drive, oil pump, oil gallery plug, or bearing went bad. Check the oil pump drive, they are known for strippin theet. Also make sure the oilpressure gage or sending unit are OK, verify with a mechanical test gage.
I replaced the oil sending unit, and now instead of 20 oil pressure I have 0. I got it from the dealership, but I wander if they gave me the wrong one? Maybe itsunrelated.I will try toput the old one back on and see if I have 20 pressure again. I also replaced the oil level sensor.
New things since rebuild (five miles ago): Oil Pump (but not the oil screen on there but it seemed fine), oil pump drive, New bearings. So I wouldnt think it would be any of those.
What is an oil gallery plug, and also what is that roundish black thing I plugged my sending unit into? And what does it do? I would like to work, on the car, but we are in the middle of a blizzard, and its covered in like a foot and a half of snow. Lol. So what do you think it could be? One last thing, where do you plug the mechanical test gauge into? Thanks.

The test gauge is connected in place of the pressure sender. Gallery plugs are screwed in at the end of the oil galleries, they are removed for cleaning the gunk out of the gallery and then put back, sometimes the machine shops do not put them back. Another problem is the oil pickup coming loose from the pump, & then the pump can't reach the oil.
The oil sender/sensor gizmo taps into an oil passage. One part has a switch that feeds power to the fuel pump, the other part is the gauge sender. There are seaveral variations,

Thanks peat, Ill probably get that test gauge, and if thats not the problem... I dunno. Might have to take it to the dealership, and lose all my money. Lol. Also to get to the oil pump, do I have to take the motor out again? Or could you take the suspension off or something? Whats the easiest way?
To get to the oil pump, you need to take out the motor mount cross bolts, raise engine a few inches so that oil pan clears the front cross member, also loosen up front cover to release front of oil pan.
