It's an automatic transmission, the shifter does read OD D 3 2, but no 1. If it's a swap and it's not a 4L60E, what do you think it is?

If you have OD, D, 3, 2 that means you have a 5 speed manual, which would have had to been swapped in because the 4L60E is a 3 speed with overdrive.

And Spec, I'm pretty sure when you hit the OD button it just shifts the car down to 3rd, which is usually it's 1:1 ratio.
maybe for the camaro. ive never owned an auto american car
but in my old carolla, the OD button raised rpm about 500 at 80mph, while actually going into 3rd was a larger jump. is there any technical data on the 60niner4LEninersomething?

does ur tranny not have a 3? mine had D-3-2-L and it had an O/D on/off button.
if you go OD-D-2-L then you may be right about ur car, but if you have both D and 3 then it makes no sence

he has a D and a 3. if D really did lock u in 3 there were some we-todd-did engineers at GM. OD and D gotta be a different main drive gear that interacts with the transmission gears, at least in his tranny and my toyota

that looks to me like a 4th gen center, so ya, looks like D stands for a 3rd gear lock in this case

That would be what mine looks like, and sorry about that previous post I meant to say "you have a 5 speed auto" but it's so counter intuitive for our cars...

Either way, if your center console doesn't look like that, I'm not exactly sure what happened, sounds like somebody did something and now you get to deal with it.[&:]

First off I'd like to say I'm a retard because the whole time I've been saying that the shifter has OD D 3 2, and it doesn't.It has OD D 2 but it does not look like the picture above because it does not have a 1 anywhere on it. It's not really a problem, I was just wondering why I don't have the option to put my car into 1st gear without steping on the gas and letting the transmission kick down. I guess I'll have to get under the car and see if there's something stamped on the transmission that would tell me what kind it is.

I just went through this with mine, you can take the cover off,and when you pull the shifter back all the way it hits a small rubber block, cut the rubber block off with a hacksaw blade and you'll have first gear. Good Luck.
