new throttle body sticking open
So i redid all of my intake. I bought a 52mm professional products tb. Yes i know pointless, yada yada yada, but i like the throttle response. 2 issues.
#1 when the cruise control linkage is attached to the throttle body it stays open, like the tension is too much for the throttle body to shut completely.
#2 after disconnecting cruise control linkage, the throttle body would shut completely just fine, but when i turn the car on, the throttle will stick open and sometimes slowly get back to 1000rpm. It stuck at 4k,3.5k,2.5k... I have no clue. I drove it like this and if i put it into a higher gear i can get it to get back down to "safe" rpms, but it wont naturally drop the rpms down.

Is it actually the blades themselves sticking open? Assuming it worked fine before, if you disconnect the cables, does the TB blades open and close normally? No binding in the cables? Is it possible the IAC is stuck? I don't think that would make it run THAT fast, but you should be able to check to make sure the cables and the blades are functioning normally by using them manually. On my BBK throttle body, the cruise peg only requires the throttle to be open just slightly to attach the cruise cable, and once it's slid back into the retainer, there isn't any tension. It opens and pops closed freely with everything hooked up. Should be easy to check if everything is free with the elbow off so you can see what's going on.
the blade close just fine, with the cruise control cable off, it snaps shut and closes 100% So throttle cable and it shuts 100% with no power, but if the cars on it hangs open. and the cruise control cable was completely seated.
no, even with the cruise control cable off, it will still stick open,, like if i rev it to 3k, it may or may not hang up at 3k or anything less than it. it does the same thing if i increase throttle by pushing the throttle body (while car is on) If the car is off it closes 100% everythime
I had a bored out tb on my Dakota that gave all kinds of idle issues, truck never would relearn the idle. Turned out the bore was done incorrectly and out of round, so even though the plate would close normally, it had uneven gaps all around the throttle plate. If you can take it off again, hold it up to the light and see if the gap is even around the plate.
