i have herd that long tubes have better flow since they have alot more single pipe per cylinder per say before they dump into the same pipe, but with long tubes you have to get o2 wire extensions.... i think. anyone know for sure on the wire extensions?

What do you guys recomend to go behind these long tubes ?
I wanted to install a set of long tubes also on my 94 Z28 and what system would you use behind it (Y tube & muffler ) and also does it need to be welded or are they bolt on ? Also will we have ground clearance problems with the long tubes ?

long tubes are the way to go.
depends on what you want cnc man...you can go 2 routes. true duals and you'd be running an X pipe and probably some bullet type mufflers
or you can go the traditional y-pipe to a catback system. most of the y-pipes bolt on, but the true duals would need to be welded as you'd pretty much be fabricating them.
i have some minor ground clearance problems since i put on longtubes...but my car is lowered as well. basically speed bumps cause me problems. but you learn what you can and can't do really quickly, lol

Just to try to clear up some potential confusion: Theoretically a shorty with a mandrel bent Y-pipe will give you the same net HP gain as a long tube. In practice the long tubes have a tendency to flow slightly better because the bends are not as sharp and the Y-pipe you have to run with long tubes doesn't have stupid bends to get around the oil pan etc. The main benefit of long tubes is a gain in low end torque (further improvements arise from a tuned long tube) because they have a lower resonant frequency and therefore are more optimized to scavenge exhaust from the cylinders at lower RPM (I won't get into technical details here).
Next: You want to either get a full stainless header or something that is coated, as stated before, headers are something you don't want to repeat the install on. My personal experience with ground clearance is a decrease of about 1.5" at most. For my headers this actually occurs on the Y-pipe at the drivers side since the exhaust system was never meant to go there. My collectors are no lower than the stock cat. That said, I can only attest for Kooks, other brands will fit differently.

Haha, thanks for the encouraging words. I'm pretty sure if we counted a car that's been a participant in the most ROTM's I would win, that said, I've never come out on top. Oh well, it's always a pleasure just to be there
