Need Serious Help part 2.... The mechanic called...
ok so i got the car back and looked at the spark plugs they left out they didnt look too beat up. how could he tell i blew a piston? its not like he could have just looked down the damn sparkplug hole.
that last motor Y2K located is just down the road from you , that would be luck. I have followed this thread the last couple days, I think it is pretty damn cool for Y2K to go to the time he spent helping you, to me, thats what a car site is for and about. I know you haven't done anything for me Y2K but thanks for being there, its nice to know there are people like you on the boards.

Glad to help guys, that's what these forums are all about in my book.
Hate to see a guy down on his luck with a car, been there plenty of times myself.
I'm especially happy to help out anyone serving our country so I'll add a happy veterans day to all service members past and present.
well i really appreciate all the help ive gotten over the years from this site. im waiting on a response right now about that lt1 you found on craigslist. if i can get my hands on that ill have my car running by january.
well got the car back, dude emailed me back about the motor... i talked to my fiancees dad and he told me i should call the guy and find out what hes going to do about the fact that he sold me a 70k car with a blown up motor. well i looked up the history report and... to my surprise it has nearly 140k.... well i look up the odometer fraud laws and think well i can call him and tell him hes going to buy me a new motor and have it installed or face a lawsuit.... WEEEELLLL it didnt go as planned... aparently theres some law saying cars 10 years or older are exempt from odometer readings or something and theres nothing he legally HAS to do... but he is willing to pay half of the engine price... which i suppose is better than nothing.. half of 550.. and i can have fun installing it.. i guess thats not all bad.. woulda been awesome tho if i coulda had him replace the engine at a chevy dealer for a brand new gm motor.
thats cool man, it would have been great to stick it to him for boinkin you but at least he is willing to help with the cost. good luck to you, and thanks for your service. your close to the area I grew up in Evansville Ind.
Sorry you got hosed Sparky. How did the guy explain the odometer only showing 70k?
And you might want to go back and do some more reading on odometer fraud law. The "10 year exemption" you refer to is for the State not having to show the mileage on the title on older cars. Here in IL, older cars don't have the mileage listed on the title. It's never legal to roll mileage back, no matter how old the car. The only hangup you could have is proving that the previous owner knew the car really had 140k miles. Was there any service info with his name on it that shows the correct miles?
