the opti should be at the parts store within the hr i had to order it but i did check the compression and there all real good better than my 3.4 was and that only had 98k miles on it when i checked also the oil looks real good like it was changed within 1000 miles i pulled the tb off and cleaned that real good and took a look inside the intake and that looks good too this engine was deff taken care of (except the opti) and the trans was rebuilt at 87k miles but they let the body and interior go... im gunna drain the diff and check that out too

Even if they had waxed the car once a week since it was new the paint would have still had the peeling issues. GM had problems for a while when they changed to a new paint supplier and the curing process was not the same as the first supplier so they ended up getting the color too hard before adding the clear. Very common on most GM products from the mid 90's. As for the interior that needs to be pressure washed with some carpet shampoo and a scrub brush.

Oh and the rusty carpet in the back is usually caused by leaky T-tops, Just letting you know if you didnt.

Your bare floors didn't look all that rusty in back. I thought that was spilled pop on the carpet. To drain the tank, see if you can find a small diameter stiff hose to siphon the gas. I was able to get a good portion out when I had a 3rd gen, but not sure if there are any anti-siphon stops on the 4th gens.
