My Z pics (lots of pics beware of slow internet)
Is that chewed up fitting on the back of the head? That's a critical steam line that passes coolant from one head to the other. Old school Gen 1 style engines flows the coolant from head to head through passages in the intake manifold, but the LT1 doesn't. I wouldn't replace that with anything but the same hard line.
ya its getting replaced with braided lines
at this point im thinking of just pulling the engine and completely rebuilding it...

Ahh, the old "it only needs a tune-up and then she'll be good" story in the classified ad.
It does look like you opened up a big can of worms when you took the heads off. If you broke the steam line on the back of the heads, I don't know if braided would last due to the heat of the coolant. I would replace with the same hard line as Camaro69 recommended.

i didnt need to take the heads off i got bored yesterday and took my dremel to the heads then decided to tear her down (this is what happens when you run out of money and really want to play with your car lol) im not gunna pull it or go any further but the head gaskets are only 20 bucks so i figured why not have a nice rebuilt top end
i have braided lines left over from the miata turbo build there made to deliver coolant to the turbo so they should hold the temp that turbo gets a hell of alot hotter than some heads and some coolant
also after looking through this motor ive concluded that it looks like a good low miles engine so im thinking since im here ill put a cam in... now if anyone could point me in the right direction im looking for something mild i want the sound of a cam more than power (but i still want some power) and im trying to get something that doesnt need a tune if thats at all possible
lol cam69 i thought you said replace it with something other than hardline
